Free public sexuality education conference comes to Washington, D.C. area High School

October 15, 2009 – On November 21st, the fourth in a series of not-for-profit educational sexuality conferences will be held in Bethesda Chevy-Chase High School. The event is free and open to the public, and organized by a leaderless group of sexuality and civil rights advocates spanning the nation. The conference aims to democratize the dissemination of sexuality information and to empower individuals to learn on their own and share their knowledge with interested neighbors and peers.

The conference, called KinkForAll Washington DC, has attracted respected experts in the fields of social media, education, and political activism. Equal rights advocate Audacia Ray has called KinkForAll the perfect event to go to in order to learn about sexuality in a loosely structured environment.* Time Out New York calls its resources detailed and fast-building.** Conversio Virium, New York City’s student BDSM education group, calls it a sexuality event like no other ever seen and describes a full day of free interactive presentations and discussions about all things sexuality-related.***

Information shared at prior events have been made freely available online and have attracted thousands of viewers over several months. KinkForAll Washington DC comes after 3 successful KinkForAll conferences in New York City and Boston, held in LGBT community centers and Universities. Prior events have featured sessions on sexually transmitted infections, leather community leadership, body movement, gender and linguistic theory, polyamory, technology, food, and many other topics.

The loose and collaborative organizational style opens every aspect of the conference series’ activities, from email communications to financial transactions, to the public. The innovative conference format gives participants 20 minutes each in which to facilitate a discussion, give a presentation, or lead a session on any topic related to sexuality. Anyone interested is welcome to indicate their participation by editing the web page at and can learn more at

This activity is not sponsored by, associated with, or endorsed by Montgomery County Public Schools or Montgomery County Government.

  1. […] One month after that, I introduced the concept of KinkForAll, an ad-hoc sexuality “unconference” with the potential to radically transform sexuality education and community building as we know it today. In 10 months, a driven core of participants and I have put on 3 separate unconferences in two major metropolitan areas, creating an ever-increasing amount of freely available videos, which have collectively gotten well over 1,000 total views, and audio recordings that feature sexuality-related information and education efforts. What’s more, we’re working to put together a fourth event, KinkForAll Washington DC, which will be held on November 21st at Bethesda Chevy-Chase High School that will continue to push for and support sexuality and civil rights advocacy. (Here’s the press release.) […]
